Peter Sore - vocals, guitars
Hollywood Hofa - drums
Seb - guitars
Seit wann gibt´s euch?
THE SORE gibt´s seit ende 2000, nachdem uns unsere alten bands
Neue Platten in Planung is eine neu draußen?
www.myspace.com/thesore
zb.: BLACK FLAG, POISON IDEA, BORN AGAINST, NEGATIVE APPROACH, NEUROSIS, EYEHATEGOD,BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD,...
Weitere Pläne für The Sore?

New Interview Peter did with ROCK VAULT
Date: Mar 31, 2007 5:48 PM
Hi man! How are things going with The Sore?
Hello Özgür! THE SORE are alive and kicking after we have
taken a brief hiatus from playing live after the UK tour in summer 06.
we took the time to work on new material and think about the future for
THE SORE as well as getting Radio Deathcampaign distributed in Europe.
>
Can you tell us in briefly how the members of The Sore met and
how the band was created? Well, the core members of THE SORE were, are
and will always be myself (Peter Sore) and Hollywood Hofa. we are best
friends and have been in punk and hardcore bands together for about 10
years. when our old band ABSINTH broke up in 2000 we decided to start
something new. we have always been influenced by hc/punk and crust
bands and we thought "why not make such a band?". and that´s what
we did. we have many good friends that want to play with us so we got
our first line up and played literally every doghouse in and around
austria for years.
>
>
How would you describe the style that you play? How do you hope those listening to your music will think or feel?
Whenever i got asked this question i say "THE SORE is a brutal
punkband". so if you like Black Flag or The Exploited you might also
like our noise. generally punks dig us but also many metal people like
us because we´re a pretty aggressive and pissed off band and at
times we can be pretty heavy too. but yeah, i think we´re a
hardcore punk band. i hope those who listen to our music can feel the
passion and the honesty behind it. we do everything ourself.
we´re DIY band. we pay all our recordings and t-shirts/merch
ourselves with no help from any labels or anything. that´s why
some things in the world of THE SORE may take a little longer but at
least we keep a personal contact with everyone. so when someone orders
a cd through our myspace they will get a little surprise coming with
the package.
>
What are your musical influences?
we are influenced by many bands but the most important musical
influences are obviously BLACK FLAG and NEGATIVE APPROACH, POISON IDEA,
CIRCLE JERKS, but also EYEHATEGOD, NEUROSIS as well as MOTORHEAD and
BLACK SABBATH.
>
Who writes the lyrics and what inspires you and What are the lyrics about,
are there any deeper meaning behind them?
To this day i have written every word and every single note for The
Sore. Hofa and i share a common vision for The Sore and it´s my
job to express those visions in words and music. i love writing songs
and i´ve been doing so since i was 12 years old. i write about
personal events and feelings and excesses but also about politics and
economy. personal = political = personal. i criticize society for i
sense a downfall of individuality. hence i wrote "DOPPELGANGER".
everybody says their unique and have an own style but when you look at
them and talk to them you see that people tend to wear uniforms and
everyone looks the same and talks the same stuff and it makes me mad.
of course i always put a little humour in my lyrics. if i lost my sense
of humour i wouldn´t have fun with the music. this is a punkband
and of course we piss people off at times but at the same time we
provoke a thought and that´s part of the success we can have with
a band like THE SORE - to get people to think.
other topics i write about are the atomic threat, violence, suicide,
drugs, exploitation, racism, isolation, and growing up in a smalltown
full of narrowminded shitheads. there is so much violence and ignorance
going on in our world and i can´t sit here and shut my mouth. i
have to let the pent up anguish out otherwise i´d lose my mind.
it´s a fucked up world we live in and we´re heading towards
the end but when we go down i wanna go down smiling.
>
What difficulties did you face when working on "Radio Deathcampaign"?
to be honest THE SORE is a diligent band. we were very well prepared
for the recording and we exactly knew what we want the album to sound
like, so no, there were no difficulties at all. we just jammed out
songs, demoed them, changed them and eventually came up with the final
demos. when we went into the studio Hofa recorded all drums live in
less then 3 hours. i then put all the other instruments above the drums
in 2 afternoons. and vocals were done in another 2 afternoons. we work
hard and fast. we think this, in the end, is rock´n´roll
and has to be spontaneous. a band must be as prolific as possible as
long as it´s around otherwise it´d be dead. and
that´s why we constantly work on new material and demo stuff.
>
Have you already started writing new material for the next release? Is
there a time frame you're working along? Can we possibly expect any new
releases?
Yes, after a short hiatus after the tour when we worked on getting
RADIO DEATHCAMPAIGN distributed in Europe as well as our merch we
started to jam again. so far we have 7 new songs and we think about
recording them in summer 2007. that´s the plan but since we are
DIY it can always change and be postponed backwards. but yeah,
i´d love to record and release a new album or ep in 2007. by the
way, there´s gonna be a tape released in Indonesia soon which
will include a few songs off Radio Deathcampaign as well as older
material.
>
>
How far do you hope to take The Sore? What can we expect from you in the future?
All we want is to write, play, record, release and perform
uncompromising music. we´d love to tour much more in the future
and meet and party with the good people. The Sore have been around as a
band for 6 years now and we have seen so many cool places and made so
many good friends along the way. that´s the most important reason
for us to make music: to get out of here.
>
Any plans for a tour? If it's up to you with which bands would like to go on a tour?
yeah, we wanna tour this year again of course. we´d love to tour
England again because the crowds there are amazing. i have never seen
people go berzerk like that to our music. there are many people that
dig us and we have sold many copies of Radio Deathcampaign in England
so yes, we wanna go back to the UK. also we´d love to tour
Germany and Italy. we all work at jobs and/or study at university so we
don´t get so much time for touring but if it works out we will be
all over the place.
bands i´d love to tour?
MOTORHEAD - because Lemmy is the king.
AMEN - because they are my personal favourite band and Casey Chaos is a
friend as well as a supporter of us. and also because John King of AMEN
is a good friend and i´d love to play music and have cognac with
him again.
ASSASSINATION - they´re a swedish crust band and i love them.
they are amazing and mash your brain. also Rob Horrendous
(ASSASSINATION´s guitarist) is a nice guy and digs us.
other bands i´d love to tour with are Oppressed Logic, Rotten
Cold, Scheisse Minnelli, TCSM, The Sellout Flaw as well as Negative
Approach, Metallica and Britney Spears.
Do you think technology such as the Internet and podcasts could reduce
the need for a band to perform in front of an audience in the distant
future?
No. Writing songs and recording music in studio are one thing but
playing shows is inevitable. this music is live music. it shows people
how good or how bad the band is and what it is capable of at the
moment. each show is a unique experience for everyone in the band as
well as in the audience. i think the revolution on how to record and
release music has already started but there is no way to deny live
shows. touring and playing live is what´s it about.
Thank you for taking the time to do this interview. If you have any last words, please share with the readers of Rock Vault.
i want to thank everyone that comes to our shows and supports THE SORE
be it through buying the records and shirts or by spraying THE
SORE´s logo all over the town. keep spreading the word, keep
forming bands, don´t bow down to the majority. do your own thing
and do it yourself. stay true to yourself and stay opneminded. yours
sincerely,
Peter Sore

THE SORE have begun jamming again. we have about 6 new
songs as well as a few covers...of course we are inspired by
Poison Idea, Negative Approach and Black Flag and all those fast
aggressive hardcore punk bands but we have always admitted the fact
that we love BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD and ACDC. it´s great fun to
jam a Motorhead song. Lemmy is the king. anyway, we are working on new
songs already even though RADIO DEATHCAMPAIGN is pretty new and a lot
of people haven´t heard it yet. But we are of the opinion that a
band that stops being creative and doesn´t bother to come up with
new songs is a dead band. and THE SORE is everything but that dead. if
it was up to us we´d release 2 albums a year and some ep´s.
but since we are skint cunts we can´t afford releasing all this
music. so in the end the plan for now is to gather and practice and
play a few shows before the summer where we will play a few new songs
as well as songs off RADIO DEATHCAMPAIGN and a few old ones. after that
we´ll see what we´re gonna do...
just bear with us.
I`M A MACHINE,
Peter
20.02.2007
even though the website hasn´t received any updates
recently we have been busily working on the band. in the next couple of
weeks we will announce quite some things and clear up any rumours and
gossip. fact is: we will do a lot of things in 2007 but we prefer
to keep a moment of surprise. whenever there is news we will of course
post them in here and on the myspace profile www.myspace.com/thesore.
till then - annihilate,
Peter Sore
31.12.2006
2006 was a very good year for THE SORE. we recorded and released our
debut full length album RADIO DEATHCAMPAIGN and successfully toured the
UK. we made a lot of great friends along the way and generally had a
lot of fun.
it´s safe to say that we achieved all the goals we wanted to
achieve without having to compromise. and that´s what this band
is about: not having to compromise, not having to bow down and obey,
not being a slave. we did it ourselves on our own terms. and
that´s what we will keep on doing. many people talk about punk
and consider themselves punk and start to judge others. to me punk has
always been the freedom to do what you like. it´s more than a
style of music. it´s an attitude. it´s about get off your
ass and do something. don´t be a lazy fuck. Do It Yourself!
we have quite some things planned for 2007. we will make our merch
available worldwide, we are planning on touring and recording and so
much more. just bear with us, this is a diy band, so we put all our own
money into the band without any support from a fancy label or so. the
pro is that this way we can keep on making uncompromised hc/punk music
and have a good time with the music that makes us happy, the con is
that some things might take a little longer in THE SORE´s
universe.
anyway, we want to thank EVERYONE out there for supporting us, for
listening to the music, for wearing the shirts and generally for
spreading the word. you are the band we are you it´s all one
thing.
so for now we wish you a happy new year! have a good time with your friends and loved ones and stay healthy!
much love,
Peter Sore, Hollywood Hofa and the rest of the army that is THE SORE.
ps: more punk destruction soon.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently but we had huge server troubles.
anyway, we are back from our UK Tour with fellow Hardcore Punks EXP.
THE UK DEATHCAMPAIGN as it was called was a huge success and therefore
we will be back in the UK as soon as possible! here´s my blog
entry from myspace:
"THE SORE - UK TOUR = OVER
so we toured the UK with fellow HC punks EXP from Banbury Town. it was a
blast. the shows were well attended, we all played good shows and the crowd went
nuts. needless to say we enjoyed ourselves very much on that tour. the most
important thing is that we met a lot of great people along the ride and most of
them we now consider friends. we want to thank everybody for coming out and
supporting our cause. this is DIY hardcore punk and it is only possible to
maintain this madness as long as YOU come to the shows and support the
bands!
since this first chapter of our worlwide deathcampaign was successfully
achieved and accomplished we are already in talks about a 2nd UK tour as well as
a trip to Spain and also an US eastcoast tour (the NY DEATHCAMPAIGN).
for now we want to thank everybody in EXP, FIGHTBENJAMIN, KEMICA, THE MAGPYES
and all the other bands we were fortunate enough to share the stage with. and
most of all we want to thank you, the people who showed up and made every night
a special night!
TILL WHEN WE MEET AGAIN!
THE SORE
this was the tour poster

other than that we are working on making our
merch available through this website. it´s gonna take us some
time so please bear with us.
also this website will be updated soon-ish!
till then,

new interview Peter did with WORLD WIDE NOISE POLLUTION:
Peter Sore is one of the most angry deranged and dedicated
people in musick he as well as his bandmates in Austrian Hardcore/Punk Band THE
SORE are now completely done with new album entitled 'RADIO DEATHCAMPAIGN' and
are ready for a tour with bands such as the industrial punks known as Kemica
Hardcore/punks E.X.P and Thrashing punks Fight Benjamin. Here is a window into
the mind of Peter Sore.....
What was the writing process
like for this album?
well, i constantly write songs so when Hofa and i
started to prepare the material i already had about 25-30 songs ready. i think
it is a must to be as prolific as possible while you´re around as a band and as
a human being. i got no time to waste cause i know very well that you don´t have
100 years to mess around. the time is NOW! anyway, i had some songs that were
kinda like swedish hardcore/crust others were more in 77´s punk style (believe
it or not). i listen to a lot of different music and i like 100´s of bands.
everything leaves influences. don´t ever ask me about my favourite records cause
i would break out in a 24 hour monologue hahaha. however, out of all the
material we chose the best 12 songs that fit together well and that portrayed
the pure essence of THE SORE.
we also prepared PADDED CELL by BLACK
FLAG. the cool thing is that CHUCK DUKOWSKI himself helped me a lot to get that
song right. all hats off to him! if you don´t know: he was the original bassist
for BLACK FLAG and he wrote many very important songs like MY WAR, MODERN MAN
and WHAT I SEE. it was a very exciting experience to get in contact with Chuck
since i´m one of the biggest BLACK FLAG fans ever. the intention of our record
was "WHAT WOULD IT SOUND LIKE IF BLACK FLAG FORMED AND RECORDED THE DAMAGED
ALBUM IN 2006?" . with that in our heads we went and tried to play as harsh and
aggressive as possible. plus we speeded everything up once we were in the
studio. when i write songs the music comes out of my mind and my stomach but
when we play it´s all about letting all beasts out. no time to think no more
just bash the shit out of the instuments. you wouldn´t believe the amount of
strings and sticks we broke during all these sessions....
Where did you get the title 'RADIO
DEATHCAMPAIGN'?
i once had a song idea which had the work title Charlie
Harper Deathmachine. i love the UK Subs and that idea had a certain UK SUBS
feel. however, that song idea finally didn´t end up on the album but i liked the
title cause it´s weird, funny and somehow subtlely aggressive. i played around
with that a bit and imagined a huge army of people marching against the bullshit
in the media and music industry. the real bands and musicians get fucked over
all the time while people are constantly bombarded with plastic pop punk
bullshit and casted wannabe music. i imagined a worldwide community of people
that want the real and honest music. not the money oriented watered down stuff
that´s on tv 24/7. i imagined an organisation for all the bands that try to go
their own way and put all their time and money into their music. i imagined a
movement of people and bands that are fed up with the shit that record companies
want us to buy and that want to make a difference.i thought it should be a
DEATHCAMPAIGN and we are to create the soundtrack for it. hence RADIO
DEATHCAMPAIGN.
as written on the DC´s myspace profile: THE DC isn´t some
exclusvie club. it´s open to everybody. it´s kinda like Turbonegro´s Turbojugend
and everybody can join and open their own chapters and help local bands to get
their music heard.
How many songs are on the album? How
many were recorded?
we recorded 13 songs and they are all on the album.
we didn´t have the time and money to record fillers,
haha.
After the U.K. DEATHCAMPAIGN is done where else do
you plan on going?
we will play shows in Austria and Germany throughout
autumn and winter 2006. maybe we can tour Italy a bit..there are talks of doing
a split ep with the mighty FIGHTBENJAMIN from Liverpool. they are awesome and
it´d be very cool if we could make that ep happen this autumn. if that works out
chances are that we will do another tour in England as well as tour with
FIGHTBENJAMIN in Austria/Germany. we´ll see....since a NEW YORK DEATHCAMPAIGN is
already being worked on it could well be that we head over to NYC and tour the
US eastcoast next year...
It's easy to hear in your
musick that you are influenced by the likes of Casey Chaos(AMEN, Scum) as well
as Henry Rollins(S.O.A, Black Flag, Rollin's band) what about them inspires you?
And who are your other influences if any?
Casey Chaos and Henry Rollins
inspire me because they are prolific artists. they do not put out half-hearted
music. they always give 100%. they polarise, it´s a take it or leave it
situation. they do not bow down to anyone but only follow their own agenda. they
are true and honest people. no bullshit involved. no rockstar behaviour. fuck
no. i was fortunate enough to meet and hang out with Casey and AMEN at Casey´s
house as well as being on the road with them in Europe. you cannot imagine
anyone more friendly and genuine than Casey. on stage he is the maniac hurting
himself because of his passion for his music but off stage he is a very
intelligent and generous, almost shy person that has a similar passion for good
music as i do. i collect old hardcore/punk records. stuff like Void, Circle
Jerks, Flag, Poison Idea, Negative Approach, Deep Wound....well, when these
bands were active Casey was a kid making noise with DISORDERLY CONDUCT. he
played with these bands. he witnessed the madness. for me Casey and AMEN are one
of the few bridges between the old HC/Punk music and modern music. AMEN is more
important now than ever before.
other sources of inspiration (other than
life and it´s cruelties) are Lemmy & Motorhead, Jaz Coleman/Killing Joke,
EyeHateGod, Neurosis, Poison Idea, Black Sabbath, TV Smith, D.O.A. and Amebix
amongst many many many other cool bands.
How many bands
have you been in and what happened to them?
i have been in quite some
bands...let´s see...
SCHLACHTHAUS (Abattoir) - my first band. i was about
15 and played guitar. we just made noise cause we couldn´t play. the band
disbanded after one show...i got a video tape of that somewhere...i look like a
total goof, haha.
GREEN HELL - right after Schlachthaus i tried to play
like The Misfits....well, we disbanded cause the drummer wasn´t fast
enough.
FBD (Fucking Brutal Death) - i got me a drumset and played in the
basement. i started to record the drums and then the guitars. that was during my
black metal phase in summer 1997 i think. i still have the recordings somewhere.
imagine Darkthrone with a very shitty soundquality..... it was just a solo
project to make noise. nothing serious. however, Hofa liked my music and came
down to the basement. he had never played drums before. well, we started to make
noise in the basement with me on guitar until the neighbor´s dog died of
heartattack induced by our bad bad music that blasted through the walls. poor
animal, rip. anyway, that´s when we got our first rehearsal space and actually
formed a band, Absinth.
ABSINTH - my first "real band". this is where
Hofa and i started to jam for up to 10 hours a day. everyday. we´ve been totally
obsessed with creating and playing music ever since. that´s one thing that
hasn´t changed over the years. with Absinth we played whatever we wanted, slow
doom as well as fast hardcore and even grindcore. Absinth lasted 2 years, 1998 -
2000. we disbanded right after we had recorded an album. the guy that "produced"
it totally fucked us over. what else. anyway, Hofa and i kept on playing music
and finally founded THE SORE in February 2001.
THE SORE - this band is my
life. there´s no single second that i do not think about new songs and lyrics
for The Sore. i love this band and i appreciate everybody that has a similar
passion for this band. we now have what i consider our strongest line up so far
with Hofa on drums, U.David on bass, Sebi on guitar and me on bad
behaviour.
One of the reasons why you are one of my
influences is because you like to fuck around with musick and noise and do many
different things and thats where DRONESHAKER
comes in what was going on at that time to make youjust snap and come up with
something so out there?
DRONESHAKER came about during one week in April
2006. i had reached a lowpoint because there were so many personal tragedies
happening at that time. i was completely out of my mind. there were family
problems as well self-induced bullshit going on and i needed another outlet for
the time where i couldn´t work on THE SORE record with Hofa. that guy´s gotta
sleep too....well, i couldn´t so after the long sessions for THE SORE i sat at
home and recorded noise and played around with my computer. i like ambient
landscape music like SCORN and i wanted to try something like that. i have about
30 Droneshaker tracks. one day, i will make them public. other than that i
experiment with Black Metal a little bit. that project is called The Betrayal.
it´s just for fun.
Any other projects happening
soon?
other than releasing "RADIO DEATHCAMPAIGN" and touring England as
part of the UK DEATHCAMPAIGN i´ve got no other musical projects line up so far.
my plan is to concentrate on THE SORE and spreading the word about the punk army
that is THE DEATHCAMPAIGN.
What are your thoughts on the current
music scene?
to be honest i don´t even know what´s really going on in the
current music scene. most of the time i sit at the computer and check out and
listen to other underground bands like the great great SCHEISSE MINELLI,
OPPRESSED LOGIC, ALTERNATE-SYSTEM, NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, EXP or KEMICA. i close to
never watch TV and i stopped buying corporate music magazines cause they all
suck. i do read a lot of fanzines tho. fanzines like "CAMPAIGN FOR MUSICAL
DESTRUCTION" or "SLAM ZINE". but anyway, my thoughts are that there is a lot of
good music out there and a lot of good bands. they just need to get exposure. i
like myspace for being the perfect tool for getting heard. i can only urge the
bands out there to get in contact with each other and start to play shows and
help each other out.
Anything you wanna say to the
readers?
i want to thank everyone who has supported THE SORE over the
years. because of this band i have made some great friends and i have seen many
places i would´t have seen otherwise. for all these experiences and good times i
want to express my deepest gratitude to the people that listen to bands like us,
buy the records and set up shows. can´t wait to see you all on THE
DEATHCAMPAIGN!!!!!!! D I Y!"

in the last couple of
weeks we finished up the songwriting phase and recorded all the music
for the album in 2 live sessions. drums were recorded within 3 hours
most of them in one take.gits/bass were done within a 22 hours marathon.
tomorrow we will begin to record vocals. out of the 20+ songs prepared
we chose 13 for the album. that´s 12 original songs + a cover of
a BLACK FLAG song. as it seems quite some people will be doing guest
vocals for that song. it´s a well kept secret what song it is
tho....
here´s a tracklist in no particular order:
*THE BUTTON BE PUSHED
*BEING WATCHED
*ASHES OF EVIDENCE
*DOPPELGANGER
*TIED UP
*THE STABBING
*COUP DE GRACE
*BASH IN THE MIRRORS
*RADIO DEATHCAMPAIGN
*1000 THOUGHTS
*SINKING AT NIGHT
*INTO THE KNIVES
*a secret Black Flag cover...
other than all that we worked a lot on the UK DEATHCAMPAIGN. more details on THE DEATHCAMPAIGN here

not so many news this time. we´ve just been playing, writing and
rehearsing like the possessed people we are. all i can say is that
we´re close to finishing preparing the songs for the album. 12
songs are ready so far but we will write some more.....we´ll see
how many end up on the album...
anyway, Lurch has made a new myspace group for THE SORE since the old
one died a slow and painful death. here´s the link for the new
group:
THE SORE is the real deal
the UK tour is also close to be sorted out. dates will follow soon!

update from the shed:
so far 9 songs are ready to record. we´re gonna prepare yet
another bunch of say 10 songs for the album. i think it´s safe to
say that this album is gonna be a very fast and aggressive thing. the
music feels like a wounded animal, close to death but still fighting. i
don´t know how to explain it otherwise...i think anybody who is
into what we do will like the new music. Amy Toxic is going to do
the artwork for the record. Amy´s myspace oh and Sophie from Bett The Deadman will most likely do some vocals for a few songs. check them here: Bett The Deadman
